It was evident that things were getting heated. The heightened tension in their tones – and the early ending of the meeting – was enough to show that things were not going as planned. At 47 years old, leading a country during wartime has definitely been a change from the man’s previous job in entertainment, but so far he has managed to keep his country afloat. He has also tried to remain close to the population, even dressing casually for the past few years. Contrary to what some politicians may believe — that his manner of dress is a deliberate insult – he has stated before that by not wearing a suit he is showing his solidarity and commitment to his people. While such sentiment may be lifting to a population in need of raising their hopes during wartime, what they need is the necessary funding to continue their defense. Whether they obtain that is still to be seen.
I give a small nod to the security guard as my card swipes through. After a few steps in, I halt. I remembered I had a meeting, and would need a private space to join. Turning back, I ask if I can use one of the study rooms. “Sure,” they reply, and walk with me to one of the rooms on the second floor. Along the way I try to read any book title that I see, mentally saving some I find interesting. Once in the group study room I get situated while appreciating the technology there, though I won’t be using it today. Following my meeting I quickly leave the room in case someone else needs to use it. I head to one of my favorite spots: the area with the comfy chairs right by the windows. There I can do my work in peace while occasionally looking out at the amazing trees whenever I need a break.
